Who We Are

Founded in 1981, Haywood is a 100 per cent employee-owned investment dealer with more than 275 employees in its Canadian offices in Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto as well as in London, England. Haywood Securities Inc. is a member of the Toronto Stock Exchange, the TSX Venture Exchange, the Montreal Exchange, the Canadian Trading and Quotation System, the Canadian Investor Protection Fund, and the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada. In addition, Haywood Securities (USA) Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary is a broker-dealer registered to transact securities business in the United States and a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. Similarly, Haywood Securities (UK) Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary with offices in London, UK. Haywood Securities (UK) Limited is a member of the London Stock Exchange and registered with the Financial Services Authority to service institutional customers in the UK.

History

Haywood has experienced rapid growth in the investment industry, in particular over the last 10 years. Originally launched as an independent retail brokerage to primarily serve the Vancouver market, Haywood today is fully integrated and consistently ranks amongst the top investment dealers by extending its reach into Calgary, Toronto and London, England.

The following is a synopsis of significant milestones since Haywood’s inception in 1981. It is a history we are proud of and one we very much look forward to building on in what promises to be an exciting future for our clients.

Milestones:

1981

  • Haywood established as an independent retail brokerage to primarily serve the Vancouver regional market.

1986

  • Management team strengthened to guide planned national growth;
  • Joins Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX).

1996

  • Haywood (USA) formed;
  • Joins FINRA and SIPC.

1997

  • Correspondent services first offered to other Canadian dealers.

1999

  • Toronto office opens and is profitable in its first year of operations;
  • Becomes full-service national firm;
  • Key institutional salespersons recruited from First Marathon Securities to lead the development of the institutional division;
  • Research team expands with addition of several respected North American mining, technology, and oil and gas analysts.

2000

  • Continued rapid growth;
  • Calgary office opens;
  • Additions to research team, broadening coverage of the Oil & Gas sector; experienced Mining Investment Banker recruited.

2003

  • Consistently ranks in the top 10 investment dealers by share volume on the TSX Venture Exchange and in the top 20 on the TSX;
  • Participates in raising over $1.1 billion for Canadian and International resource companies;
  • Responsible for 18% of total TSX Venture Exchange Mining Private Placements;
  • Responsible for 20% of total TSX Venture Exchange Mining IPOs;
  • Ranked as fifth amongst Canadian independent dealers for the year 2003 by the Financial Post.

2004

  • Adds another Oil & Gas senior analyst to its research team;
  • Adds another Non-Resource investment banker to its investment banking team.

2005

  • Adds 2 more special situations analysts to research team;
  • Haywood UK created to expand institutional reach to the U.K. and Europe;
  • Haywood UK is FSA approved and becomes a member of the London Stock Exchange;
  • Employees globally total 228;
  • Total assets under administration - C$3.5 billion.

2006

  • Participates in raising over $945 million for Canadian and International resource companies;
  • Total Assets under administration - C$4.0 billion.

2007

  • Participates in raising over $1.0 billion for Canadian and International resource companies;
  • Total Assets under administration - C$6.2 billion.

2008

  • Participates in raising over $308 million for Canadian and International resource companies;
  • Total Assets under administration - C$4.8 billion.

2009

  • Current employees total 275 globally;
  • Firm clears for 7 other Canadian dealers;
  • Total assets under administration - C$4.2 billion.
